Taylors Wines Unveil “The Legacy” at 50th Anniversary Dinner
In celebration of the family-owned winery’s 50th anniversary , Taylor Wines recently hosted a glamorous dinner for 50 guests – using the occasion to unveil ‘The Legacy 2014’, a wine said to embody three generations’ knowledge of crafting fine wines.
“While The Legacy celebrates our family’s journey, it’s also a benchmark for future generations of Taylors to come,” explained Managing Director and Winemaker, Mitchell Taylor. The intention of the South Australian wine producer has always been to produce new world wines that stand tall against the iconic wines of Bordeaux – the original inspiration for the family’s desire to create wine.

‘The Legacy’ is more old-world than new, being a cabernet sauvignon with a touch of merlot and cabernet franc. A crucial component for the wine is the integration of oak: Taylors use specific barrels for long term maturation sourced from Vicard, a sixth-generation cooperage in France.
“The aim was to find true completeness in a wine. Having a glass of The Legacy - you almost fall into it. It has a huge presence but is still delicate at the same time. It’s a wonderful experience,” said Chief Winemaker, Adam Eggins.
The wine is housed within a bespoke case, which includes a certificate of authenticity as well as a book containing the history of Taylors Wines. ‘The Legacy’ also uses the world’s first protective bottle overcap and security chip, enabling purchasers to confirm that the wine is authentic and unopened. The bottle feature Taylors’ three-seahorse emblem that has been handcrafted from silver medallion and coated in rhodium, ensuring it will never tarnish.
With only 1080 individual bottles, ‘The Legacy’ is extremely rare and will be available in select markets and fine wine retailers from May 1 for $1000.
