Five of the most luxurious ways to enjoy Vivid Sydney

Picture: Destination NSW

With Vivid Sydney just around the corner, you need to be making plans and bookings now to ensure a truly memorable experience of what is rapidly becoming one of the world’s most spectacular festivals.

There are light shows, displays, cultural immersions and performances by the hundreds, not to mention the show-stopping large-scale illuminations of the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.

But if you really want to ramp it up, and don’t mind splashing out on the finest experiences, here are Robb Report Australia’s five suggestions to get the most out of your Vivid Sydney experience. (vividsydney.com)

1. When only Dom will do

Dom Perignon pop-up at Grain bar by Four Seasons Hotel Sydney - Vivid Sydney

Enjoy Dom Pérignon by the glass or special Vivid-inspired glowing cocktails at the Four Seasons Hotel Sydney’s Dom Pérignon Luminous pop-up in the hotel’s Grain Bar, which will glow green for the duration of Vivid Sydney. Dom Pérignon Luminous by the bottle can be paired with a complimentary dozen freshly-shucked oysters for $375, or tuck into treats such as lobster corn dogs with citrus aioli and duck fat fries, designed to compliment a glass of Dom Pérignon. Alternatively, order the Vivid-inspired signature cocktail Viva Violetta ($18), mixed with purple-coloured locally-made Ink Gin. Four Seasons also offers accommodation with sweeping views of the best of Vivid’s many Harbour-based installations. (fourseasons.com)

2. Get above it all

SLSN-Altitude

To get away from the crowds and take in all the splendour of Vivid from above, book for dinner at Altitude Restaurant, on the 36th floor of the Shangri-La Hotel in The Rocks. A six-course seasonal tasting menu has been devised by Chef de Cuisine Ricardo Ferreira, inspired by the vibrant sights, sounds and colours of Vivid and priced at $170 per person, or $235 to add matched wines by Executive Sommelier John MacKinnon. 3. A suite with a stunning view

The Park Hyatt Sydney at the base of the Sydney Harbour Bridge commands unfettered views across Circular Quay to Vivid Sydney’s most arresting spectacle, the illumination of the Sydney Opera House sails. For the absolute best seat in the house, book one of the Park Hyatt’s capacious suites – the 75-square-metre Opera Deluxe suite commands sweeping views of the entire harbour and includes a 24-hour concierge service in a standard rate of around $1450 per night. 4. See a music act

Vivid isn’t just about the bright lights – the Harbour and its surrounds are a mecca for entertainment and dozens of music shows. Spoil yourself with international songstress Beth Orton (pictured, from $59), French electric-pop duo Air (from $99), Canadian balladeer Wendy Matthews (from $40) or former Lemonheads frontman Evan Dando (from $40), among many, many others to help kick off your big Vivid adventure. 5. Cruise the Harbour

Enigma

Sydney shines brightest when seen from its spectacular Harbour, and never more so than during Vivid Sydney. Numerous charter operators offer boat cruises that will get you closer to the bright lights of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, without the madding crowds, than any other way. Enigma Charters offers luxury bespoke charters for up to 33 people, with prices starting at $3000 for two hours (for 20 people), including drinks and canapes. (mvenigma.com.au)
